Websites and design systems

Electrolux and Frigidaire

While Electrolux and Frigidaire had an established ecommerce presence for their smaller finished goods and consumables the next step was to move toward online sales of their large appliances. Part of that process would be to re-platform the majority of the existing Optimizely (EPI) experience to Hybris.

Role: UI Design, Design System,

What started as a creative support roll on a few pages of the current site eventually turned into a large scale design system project for the new site. Working with a BA, dev leads, and content strategy component needs were identified and a plan created for a robust but simplified design system was put into place.

Once a system was etablished for Electrolux it was adapted for an update to an internal facing website, the Electrolux Family Store. Eventually the new system was adapted further for use across the updated Frigidaire site.

Electrolux is a multinational Swedish home appliance manufacturer, in business for more than 100 years. Electrolux is consistently ranked the world's second largest appliance maker by units sold.

Starting with a complete re-architecture to address primary, secondary, and tertiary audiences, the new site would also have a new platform (Acquia) to facilitate easier management of content while delivering a more personalized experience for users.

While the current site was a recent design upgrade, a total redesign was done to tell a more robust MDVIP story, bring patient testimonials to life, as well as set the ground work for a more personalized and dynamic experience.

University of Delaware

The University of Delaware was facing several issues with their current website, including a dated design and build that did not allow for a mobile friendly experience. With almost 1600 sites across 7 colleges, built on multiple platforms, and a communications department not staffed to handle the ongoing maintenance that many sites and platforms required, UD knew they had to start somewhere.

Role: Creative Direction, Design, Design System

The ask: Facilitate a more consistent user experience and brand message across the UD network and establish a consistent but flexible base for future web development via the new udel.edu architecture and design system.

Increase engagement and encourage dialogue by providing clear pathways to find information on a more integrated multiplatform website that is accessible from smartphones, tablets, and desktops.

Reflect the University as a modern, accessible, and leading research institution that has a highly engaged student body and faculty.

The solution: A flexible design system implemented on AEM.

The new system provides an easy to maintain series of templates and components, that allows for new pages and sites to be implemented quickly by the Office of Marketing and Communications. All while maintaining the University’s brand integrity and enough flexibility to not seem cookie-cutter

The University of Delaware was chartered by the state in 1833. The university is a major research university with extensive graduate programs, as well as outstanding undergraduate and professional education.

St. Jude Medical

SJM's web presence did not convey the innovative thinking that their products did. Their current site was a fractured experience encompassing over 18,000 pages, in multiple languages, and didn't target content for each of their unique customers.

A unified experience was designed based on a series of templates and components that allowed SJM to create and tailor content across the site. Component were developed to be stylized for each of SJM’s core audiences.
